---The time is: The 10th anniversary celebration of the defeat
of the Magic Emperor. The place is: Vane. Everyone is present in
Vane except Ebony. You all here guild leader Mia's voice ring across
the entire island...---
Mia: Citizens! Welcome to Vane. All inhabitants of Lunar who seek
peace are welcome here. As many of you know, Vane's landmass and
levitation were restored only 2 years ago. We come here today to
celebrate the peace that Lunar now enjoys. Ten years ago, this peace
was threatened. The premier of the magic guild, here in Vane itself,
commited treachery, destroyed Vane, and attempted to conquer all of
Lunar for himself. His ambition and greed for magic and power even
drove him to take our Goddess's power for himself. When the Ausa
dynasty first founded the guild to regulate magic, my forefathers never
intended magic to be a source of envy and greed, and that is why today
I am officially decreeing that magical talent and ability no longer be
a requirement for entering this city of Vane. We are also here to
honor some brave heroes of that time. Dragonmaster Alex and Luna are
in Burg now, but they sent their best wishes. It was Alex's bravery,
courage, and love that allow us to live today free from oppression.
We are also here to honor Jessica Alkirk, daughter of Mel de Alkirk,
current governor of Meribia. Kyle, guardian of the Nanza Barrier,
Tempest, now chief of the Stadius village of Pao, and humbly, myself
and my great husband, guild premier Nash. However, in our celebration,
let's not forget about the person inside the Magic Emperor's clothing.
I would like to take a minute to remeber Ghaleon, the man he was. I
cannot condone the actions of the last years of his life, but I think
we should remember who he was before then. Many of us forget that we
would be in darkness if he had not saved us many years ago. The same
darkness he threatened to bring over us... He dutifully upheld the
position of guild premier, and was, for the most part, great at his
position."
---Lemia, at Mia's side, begins to cry.---
Mia: So, we must be glad and grateful to Alex and his friends that we
are not in the horror of the old days of the Magic Empire, but we must
not lose sight of the man Ghaleon was... and we must not judge him
based on his final actions.
---Several people in crowd begin loudly booing Mia.---
Woman 1: What are you talking about, you dingbat?! My husband died in
Ruid!
---The crowd is growing with unrest.---
Man 1: By Althena's light, you little brats were in league with the
devil the whole time!
---The man charges the podium with a knife.---
---A quick flash, a loud crash, and the man falls over.---
---Guild premier Nash's hands are smoking.---
---Mia begins to shake.---
Mia: So... so.... to.. to con... conclude.... If we are to live in a
world that little Semila would be happy to grow up in...
---Mia points to her infant daughter---
Mia: ...We... mus.. must put aside our simple views of right and
wrong and judge people by the entire content of their character.
Thank... thank you.
---Mia swiflty grabs Lemia by the arm and rushes toward the
mansion. The crowd is breaking up---
* Bulix stares after Mia as she rushes off, and mutters, "What the..?"
to no one in particular.
* Davis replies "Who knows."
* Miko looks at Davis. "Well, that was...interesting. Did you know all
of these things had happened?"
* Davis just shrugs then says to Bulix, "By the way, my name is Davis.
What would yours happen to be?"
* Bulix turns towards Davis and Miko, and nods to them.
Bulix: I'm Bulix...
Unknown Character: I sense a presence unknown to me.....
Davis: Miko, What things would you be referring to?
Rimzol: Come on, Bulix! Don't chat with these simpletons! I want you
to see my bright students! Come on!
Miko: Davis, This woman... You say she is the leader of the "Guild"
here. What does she mean, they "Regulate Magic"? I don't understand
any of these things...
* Bulix waves to Rimzol, and turns back to Davis. "Maybe I'll talk to
you later or something," and then head off towards Rimzol.
Unknown Character: That's odd. My crystal is glowing.....
* Miko seems restless and looks anxiously around the city of Vane,
anxious to explore...
Unknown Character: There is something odd about that woman 'Miko'.
* Miko is content to marvel silently at the wonders of the floating
city until her companion takes the hint...
Man 2: (mutters) Can't believe she talked good 'bout that Galon guy..
Woman 2: Was he really all that bad?
* Pickpocket looks around for an easy mark.
* Pickpocket notes that Miko seems "out of it", looks her over for
valuables...
Unknown Character: A pick pocket, eh? I'll send him elsewhere!
* Miko doesn't last long in her state of silent marvelling. "Davis, can
we get on that transmission thing again? That was fantastic!"
Vendor: Food! Got some food here!
* Unknown Character casts aura zone and sends the pickpocet where he
can do no harm...
* Miko leaves Davis, and wanders over to the food vendor.
* Vendor pushes around his cart selling refreshments...
* Pickpocket sees a rich guy, heads off...
Unknown Character: A drink would do nicely.....Oh, vendor sir!
Vendor: G'Evnin', muh lady. Ken I see ye somtin'?
* Miko realizes she has no money and walks back to her silent
companion, only to find that he has wandered off in her absence.
Vendor: "Durn window shoppers." --Continues on--
Little Kid: "Flame!" --Nothing happens-- "Waaa, I wanna do magic!"
* Miko appears nervous, as if alone in an environment completely
foreign to her. She looks about nervously, but maintains her
composure.
Shadow: --Looking mysterious-- "Come, Interceptor." --walks past
with a dog--
---Miko abrubptly falls over on her side.---
Miko: *gasp*
---Miko begins rolling across the ground toward the nearest
building.---
Man 3: Hey, What's wrong with that lady?
Woman 3: Eeeeeeeeeeek!
---Woman 3 falls over. Miko sees a horde of students
evacuating the academies.---
Miko: Wha-? Wha..?
* Students are running from the building...
---Rimzol, the oldest of the academy teachers emerges. Mia,
Nash, Lemia, and Semila emerge from the guild mansion.---
* Guy with a low IQ wonders what's going on...
* Bulix comes running out of the building, dragging a student behind
him..
---Nash shouts with a magical, ethereally loud voice. "People!
There is an emergency with the island. All must evacuate! Proceed to
the southern transmission pad!"---
* Pickpocket rips off a few students as they pass.
Man 4: We're gonna die!
Man 5: "Lemme out!" --runs towards pad--
* Miko looks about for Davis, and not seeing him, scampers awkwardly
back toward the transmission pad.
* Mia runs as fast as she can to the pad.
Jerk: "Outta the way, lady!" --shoves his way past Miko--
* Lostsa frantic people start towards the teleportation pad.
* Mia bonds her body to the transmission pad. She and the pad begin to
glow....
Woman 4: Hey, What's going on?!?! What's she doing?
* Mia enhances the pad to accept several people at once... Old women
and children are being teleported to the ground...
* Miko suddenly dashes away from the group... She is headed toward
where two men are helpless on the ground. She wonders if one of them
is Davis...
Jerk: I'm next! Me!
Some Kid: --Crying...--
* Miko does her best to revive the two men, seemingly unaware that
there is a crisis of potentially epic proportions...
---Thesian and Eomar can stand up with Miko's help. A drop of
blood is running down Mia's forehead as she concentrates harder.---
* Miko hears one of the men speak to her softly, begging to be helped
up. She assists in bringing him to a kneeling position.
* Thesian stands. "Thank you, miss. What's going on?"
Miko: I... I don't know.
Eomar: "Where is everyone going? What's happened?"
Woman 5: I knew this place wasn't safe! It crashed once! It'll do
it again!
---Miko, Thesian, and Eomar notice a shadow growing under their
feet... Three large, black skinned creatures descend from the sky in
front of you! "Hetttthhhhhaaaa!"---
* Thesian rubs the back of his neck. "Well, I think this party's
gettin' a bit rough! Let's see what these freaks have got!"
* Eomar pulls out his bow and fires at one of the creatures.
---The creatures appear extemely hostile, and are the most
bizarre things any of you have seen.---
* Thesian draws his sword and attacks.
* Miko shrieks and fumbles awkwardly for her short sabre.
Wimp: "Ahh! Monsters!" --runs away--
---COMBAT!---
Thesian lashes out at one of the creatures...
Slice! 10 damage...
Miko looks away and tries to get away from the creatures...
Vile Footman lashes out at Thesian...
Thesian feels a blade rake across his chest... 7 damage.
Vile Footman B charges Eomar... Eomar feels a sharp poke...
5 damage.
* Eomar grunts.
Vile Footman C gets an evil grin and attempts to attack Miko.
Miko feels sharp pain run down her back... 7 damage.
Eomar, embittered, shouts and charges with his dagger...
Hit! 8 damage.
Second attack: Eomar runs the creature clean through...
Critical Hit! 20 damage...
The soldier sprays black blood and collapses...
* Eomar smiles
* Thesian nods to Eomar.
Thesian makes a wide slash with his sabre...
Hit! Vile Footman B suffers 8 damage.
Miko leaps up from the ground and stabs!...
Miko's teeth are filled with rage... Critical hit! 24 damage!
The creature flies backwards, its chest ripped open.
*Eomar bows to Miko.
Vile Footman C poises his sword to attack Thesian...
The attack missed...
Eomar switches his attack stance to Vile Footman C...
Hit! 6 damage.
Second attack: Hit! 7 damage.
Thesian, battle worn, rages forward with his blade in hand...
Critical Hit! 30 damage. The creature is slain.
* Thesian wipes his sword on the creatures carcass.
* Eomar looks at the sky to see if there's any sign of where they came
from, or if there are more of them.
* Thesian looks around. "Everyone okay?"
* Miko inhales deeply and heaves a sigh of relief.
---The battle is won! Each player present earns 3 XP, and the
party pool gains 15 MEXP, for a total of 25. There are 3 Silver pieces
on the ground. The three fighters slip over... and fall. Looking
down the street, they see that Vane is actually tipped! The entire
island is now at a 30 degree angle!---
* Eomar braces himself for impact, and looks for a transporter or
something.
* Miko grasps at the ground and looks frantic!
---And to your horror, Mia appears to have completely evacuated
the city. Mia's form itself begins to shine...---
Old Man: Ahh! Young ones!
* Mia's form begins to fade... and scatter...
Old Man: Young ones! Over here!
* Eomar runs towards the old man
* Thesian looks in the direction of the voice.
* Miko looks in the direction of the voice.
Old Man: -cough- -cough-, Come here! Grab a tree!"
* Thesian pulls himself toward the old man.
* Eomar takes elementary school advice and hugs a tree.
* Miko bolts toward the nearest tree.
---You see a very ancient old man holding onto a tree with a
cane.---
Old Man: Get... over... to... me! I... -cough- can... -cough-
use a spell of... tran... -cough-
* Miko unsteadily makes her way over to the stranger.
* Thesian grimaces. "They sure don't build these cities like they used
to."
* Eomar tries to make his way to the old man as quicly as possible,
but without sacrificing stability of his hold.
---The incline appears to be getting greater...---
* Ebony thinks Vane has the worst luck...
* Thesian takes a leap toward the tree.
* Miko falls to the ground and scampers on all fours to get to the
stranger!
---The old man's eyes flare open, and his intensity frightens
you... His withered body begins to glow with a white light. The light
begins to grow beyond his body outwards....---
* Eomar half expects to end up tranported right below where Vane's
gonna land, with his luck...
* Kid on the ground points up. "Look, Mommy!"
* Kid's Mother looks up. "Oh dear, I hope no one's up there!"
* Thesian mutters "If this man can't get us out of here, then I sure
hope Vane has airbags. "
Voices: "Errghhh! Ughhh!"
* Miko gasps at the sight of what is apparently a bloodied corpse of
a woman nearby...
---You see a very strong man whipping between trees with the
greatest of ease, gripping a pararlyzed young apprentice wizard
under his arm...---
~Bulix: HEY! Any of you guys know a way outta here? This is
huge trouble! I promised Rimzol I'd get this kid outta here alive, but
we got attacked by flying, javelin-throwing imps!
Eomar: Bulix, We need to get to the old man! He's casting a spell of
transmission!
* Miko is confused and looks toward the old man with the frightening
eyes...
~Lou: "Trans... that pad?! That old man can do Transfer
magic?" The voice comes from the opposite direction...
---The old man continues concentrating...---
* Miko looks from the young boy to the old man.
~Davis: There you are! Hey, I found this young kid while
trying to look for you!
* Passing bird looks down at poor wingless creatures...
---Now there are two big strong guys with young kids!---
* Thesian puts one hand over his chest and closes his eyes briefly.
Old Man: Get.... readyyyyyy!
Miko: Davis! Hurry!
* Eomar makes a last lunge towards the man.
* ~Davis and the young lad skip down to where the old man is.
* Miko stays close to Davis.
* Thesian reaches out to grab Miko and Eomar's hands.
* ~Bulix and the wizard slide down the ground, skidding up dirt,
but stop near the old man.
Old Man: Me... and... 7 of you... I can't... my bones....
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
* Eomar contemplates the existance of God.
---The old man exudes a sphere of light that expands and
encompasses everyone... The light tears at your eyes, and a sharp pain
fills your mind... The pain quickly gives way to the bliss of
unconsciousness...---
* Thesian rolls his eyes. "Great, knocked out by a spell twice
in once day..."
* Miko is in the bliss of unconsciousness...
Eomar: This just is not my day.
* Eomar sleeps well. He'll mostly likely be killed in the morning.
Thesian: Hey, does this unconsciousness place have anything to eat?
I'm hungry...
* Eomar offers Thesian some Cheez-its.
* Miko dreams of the days of Vane's former glory... She is unconscious
to the world, but her mind is filled with images from Mia's speech and
Davis' stories of adventure...
---Miko wakes up. She's in pain but can see that she's in a
small house, and her 6 new acquaintances are all sleeping nearby.---
Ilsi: Ah... you're awake? Please don't disturb the others... they
still need rest."
---The woman is cuddling a small kitten to sleep.---
Miko: What happened? Where are we? I don't understand...
* Thesian snores loudly.
* The Cat doesn't want to be cuddled. "What about the food?"
* Davis yawns loudly, then rolls over again.
* Eomar sneezes! He's allergic to cats.
* Thesian is getting a sense of deja vu.
---Miko is surprised that the woman has some strange animal-like
features on her face.---
* Miko tries not to stare at the woman.
Ilsi: Dear, you were out for a good 2 days. The others don't seem
to recuperate as fast as you."
* The cat wiggles. "Lady, you said there was fish..."
* Miko asks, "Is everyone all right? How is Davis?"
Ilsi: My son found all of you lying in the middle of the street.
Davis... I ... uh... I'm sorry, dear, your grandfather is dead.
* Miko is confused. "My grandfather?"
Ilsi: The village elder said that he shouldn't have attempted magic
at his age.
* Eomar senses a shiver run up his unconscious spine.
* Ebony sighs and resigns himself to listening to the humans
conversing.
Ilsi: "The old man who was with you. He was hugging on to you, lass.
I assumed he was..."
* Davis says, "Huh?" as he slowly wakes up.
* Miko is relieved to see Davis stir.
Miko: Davis!
Ilsi: "Shh! My baby pet is still asleep... I think..."
Davis: MIKO!!!!
* Davis hugs Miko, glad to see her alive.
* Ebony is muttering to himself
Thesian:
~Bulix: Grawwr! Now THAT was a great sleep! Say, what's for
chow around here?
* ~Bulix's rantings awaken the small, black kitten.
Davis: If I know you, I'm just glad someone's alive.
* Miko smiles proudly at Davis. "We were attacked by strange beasts,
and I killed one of them myself! You missed it Davis! Where were
you anyway?"
---The kitten is jet black with a patch of white on it's chest.
It looks very beautiful and exotic.---
* Miko turns her attention to the small animal, wishing she could
hold him.
* Ebony is eating a fish.
