Lunar: A Story Forgotten Session 38 Log Session Start: Sun Nov 16 20:13:25 1997 =============================================================================== Cast of Characters: Dragonmaster Lou as "Gamemaster, Shop Bunny, Bartender, Drunk, Vile Peons, Beast Man, Woman, Tina, Richard Ghaleon Dragonstar as "Zigfried" Captain Blake as "Nina" DNW as "Nazdrag" Lily as "Racoon Sprite" ================================================================================ ===GAME ON!=== --After bailing out of the Destiny, Zigfried and Nina are alone on the Madoria Plains...-- * Zigfried is still flying, getting a good distance away from the Destiny. Zigfried: "Nina, do you think you're feeling any better now that we're out of there?" Nina: "I just hope we're doing the right thing." Zigfried: "Well, we can't have you being so disturbed. The others can take care of the Red Fiend. They do pretty well on their own." Nina: "Have you stopped to think about the fact that WE have no healers?" * Nina looks down for the retreating Vile Tribers --The Viles seem to be heading towards the southwest...-- * Zigfried executes a shrug in mid-flight. "We'll just have to manage then. Maybe we'll stop off someplace and buy some herbs. I have a few in my backpack already." Nina: "We don't want to lose them." * Zigfried is following Nina in terms of direction. He can't see the Viles at this distance. * Zigfried nods. "Lead the way." --The ground slowly gets closer and closer to the duo...-- --They soon find themselves gliding above the Forest of Illusion...-- * Zigfried almost nicks the top of a pointed tree. --Eventually, the duo comes to a [hopefully] gentle landing just beyond the Forest of Illusion, the Viles still barely visible in the distance.-- Zigfried: "Can you still see them, Nina?" * Zigfried's wings fold back and disappear as his spell ends. Nina: "Yes." * Nina stretches her wings a little, not used to using them for so long * Nina starts after the Viles... trying to keep them in sight without getting close enough to be noticed * Zigfried follows after Nina, taking care to stay quiet as well. --As they pursue the Vile Tribesmen, they can start to see the sea emerging just over the horizon...-- Nina: ... Do you think I'm crazy for doing this?" * Zigfried shakes his head. "It's natural for people to want to know about themselves. You're no different." * Zigfried smiles wryly. "Of course, your relatives are a lot more dangerous than most." Nina: "Why should they be? There is no Althena anymore... no Frontier... I think we should be able to live together." Zigfried: "I don't know Nina. But they _were_ attacking that town. Hopefully they won't fight us before you get to ask your questions." --At the coast, the land-locked Viles hitch a ride with those that can fly and take off across the sea...-- Nina: "... It's probably all they know." --They are continuing in the southwestern direction...-- Nina: "... They are taking to the air... Are you up to following?" Zigfried: "Sure. I can do it." * Zigfried casts his spell again and wings unfurl from his back. * Nina leaps into the air, flapping her wings, and chases continues to follow the Viles * Zigfried launches himself after her and falls into place slightly behind Nina and to her right. * Nina hopes she doesn't run out of steam in the middle of the ocean Zigfried: "Is there any Vile in particular that we should try talking to?" --The winds are gentle, and there seem to be enough thermals to allow the two to glide after the Viles...-- * Zigfried would try catching her then, since his wings are magically induced. * Nina sighs "I... want to at least meet my father... even if he doesn't care about me and didn't care about my mother." Zigfried: "I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know what he looks like?" Nina: "No..." Zigfried: "It might be kind of hard to find him then, unless the Viles are receptive towards helping you." Nina: "... I have black wings... I can only assume I got them from him" * Zigfried nods. "Are black wings unusual? That might make him stand out." Nina: "I haven't seen many Viles, so I wouldn't know." Zigfried: "Point taken." * Zigfried flaps his wings to generate a little more lift. "Are they still flying?" --The Viles come to a landing somewhere near the village of Raculi, still quite far off...-- Nina: "Yes... they are ahead." Nina: "No... they just landed." Zigfried: "All right. I was hoping they wouldn't ditch us. Let's not miss them." * Nina tries to catch up to them a little --The wind starts to pick up slightly...-- Zigfried: "I wonder where they're going. They were awfully far from home..." * Zigfried fights the breeze a little, trying to finder a smoother part of the current. * Nina laughs a little, "How do you know where their home is?" --The wind shifts to being a crosswind, making it slightly more difficult to stay on course.-- * Zigfried shrugs. "I don't. But I assume they're going home. I doubt they live near Takkar." * Nina struggles against the wind Zigfried: "Nina, is this wind pushing you as much as me?" Nina: "Yes..." Nina:"But we can't lose track of them." * Zigfried mutters a slight curse. --The crosswind picks up a bit more...-- Zigfried: "Of course. Is the shore much farther?" * Zigfried's wings curl more with every stroke to generate stronger thrusts. Nina: "It's right ahead." --Suddenly, a strong gust blows, forcing the two to tumble out of control!-- Nina: "We can... AHHH!" * Nina spins, trying to regain control * Zigfried cries out as he falls into a talespin. --The wind pushes the duo much further to the west than their intended destination...-- * Zigfried tucks his wings close to him, trying to level himself in one direction before opening them again. Zigfried: "Nina! Are you all right?" Nina: "Yea... just..." * Zigfried struggles to fly over to Nina's voice. "Damn wind..." --Suddenly, severe wind shear forces Zigfried and Nina to splash down into the ocean...-- * Zigfried makes a loud sploosh. * Nina falls into the water * Zigfried surfaces spluttering. His wings are dampened, but he spreads them out to help keep afloat. * Nina struggles to the surface Zigfried: "Scheisse, this is rotten luck!" * Zigfried spits out a mouthful of seawater. * Nina curses Nina: "We're going to lose them!" --There is a fish tangled in Zigfried's hair. :P-- Zigfried: "I know! Which direction is the shore?" Nina: "Follow me." --There appears to be shore to the north, and a town just on the horizon.-- * Nina starts swimming * Zigfried yanks out the fish and chucks it far away. * Zigfried swims after Nina. * Zigfried grumbles inwardly about the wind and water's conspiracies. * Nina stands as she reaches the shore * Zigfried gets up once his feels his arms and legs brush the sand beneath him. He sputters again and shakes his head. --The town seen from off-shore is within easy walking distance.-- * Nina looks around for the Viles * Zigfried futily tries wringing out the salty water from his hair. --There are no Viles in the vicinity, and this town does not appear to be Raculi.-- Nina: ".... We've lost them... but there's a town there... We can try and get information there." * Nina wrings water from her clothes * Zigfried nods. "And we can dry off too." * Zigfried thinks his dive in the water must've ruined just about everything not in his backpack. --Fortunately, Zigfried's backpack is waterproof.-- Zigfried: "I hope laconia doesn't rust." --Laconia is also rust-proof. :P-- * Nina sighs and trudges towards the town --The town sparkles in the light of the sun, almost as if it is entirely jewel-encrusted.-- * Zigfried treks after Nina. Nina: "I don't recognize this place..." * Zigfried 's damaged eyes can just barely make out the sparkles of the town. "Shiny place though." --The sparkles appear to be somewhat purplish in color...-- * Nina shakes her wings to get the water off * Zigfried is colorblind though. * Zigfried spreads his own bedraggled wings and shakes them a bit. Zigfried: "I suppose I should get rid of them before walking into town. I hope I won't need them again too soon." Nina: "I can hardly get rid of mine." Zigfried: "You can hide them under your cloak though. I'm rather lacking one." * Zigfried folds his wings back down. --Behind the town appears to be some sort of mountain range, and the town is built directly along side one of the mountains.-- * Nina pulls out a damp cloak and slips it on * Zigfried 's dismisses his wings as he reaches the outskirts of town. * Nina checks Zig then heads into the town * Zigfried looks cautiously to one side and then follows after Nina. --There seem to be quite a few fairly wealthy people in this town.-- --All of the buildings appear to be covered in some sort of purple gemstones.-- * Zigfried is surprised by the fact that the very people of this town appear to sparkle. --This town has a tavern and an item store...-- Zigfried: "Where do you want to go first?" Nina: "This looks like a rich place." --There are also plenty of people around town.-- * Nina looks at him, "You suggested buying herbs... Then we can ask about the Viles" Zigfried: "It must be Zaback. I was here once while touring." Zigfried: "All right." * Zigfried follows Nina to the item shop. * Nina walks into the shop Shop Bunny: "Welcome to Ramus's of Zaback! How may I help you?" Zigfried: "Could we see your item list?" ---Item Store Inventory--- Herb (50 S) Dover Nut (200 S) Holy Flute (1000 S) Herb of Althena (10000 S) Angel Tears (2000 S) Starlight (1000 S) Silver Light (25000 S) Miniporter (500 S) Zigfried: "A miniporter might be good if we want to get back to the Destiny..." Shop Bunny: "Anything you're interested in?" Shop Bunny: "Miniporters only let you exit caves." Nina: "Dover Nuts?" Zigfried: "Oh... Hmm..." * Zigfried nods. Zigfried: "Good idea. How many should we get?" Nina: "Do you have any?" * Zigfried shakes his head. "No. I just have three herbs." Shop Bunny: "200 S a piece!" Nina: "They are expensive..." Zigfried: "How about we get five of them? That ought to be enough." Nina: "Alright.... five please." Shop Bunny: "Who carries them?" Zigfried: "I'll take three and she'll have two." Shop Bunny: "Just let me get them off the shelf..." * Nina nods, "Good idea." Zigfried: "I react a little faster than you Nina, so I think if either of us needs it I can get there that much faster." --The Shop Bunny does not seem to care that her outfit is rather revealing as she climbs the ladder to get the dover nuts down from the shelf...-- -Dover Nuts acquired by both. Nina: "Thank you." Zigfried: "Well, off info gathering now, right?" Shop Bunny: "You're welcome, and Ramus thanks you as well!" * Zigfried mutters an "I'll bet" before leaving the store. Shop Bunny: "BTW, don't forget to pick up our latest classical rap album, 'Fat Boys' Greatest Hits'!" * Zigfried surpresses a groan. Nina: "Let's try the tavern." * Zigfried nods and follows after Nina. --The tavern appears to be quite busy, and the drinks are flowing freely...-- * Zigfried looks around wondering who would be a good idea to talk too. * Nina heads in and looks around for a likely candidate * Nazdrag throws out an unruly customer! Nazdrag: "Git!" * Nina blinks, "Is that guy in every tavern on the planet?" Nazdrag: "Stupid git...." * Zigfried looks around. "Which guy?" * Nazdrag grumbles and goes back to his ale Nina: "Hey! Remember us?" * Nazdrag glares at the crowd. "Anyone else feel like starting a chorus of 'It's a Small World'?!" Nazdrag: "Cause if you do yer out of 'ere!" * Nazdrag glaces up at Nina Nazdrag: "'Ey? Don't I knows you too?" Nina: "Yea... sorta." Nazdrag: "Oh yeah. You were with that starchy pantzd White Weenie." Zigfried: "White Weenie?" Zigfried: "Scott?" Nazdrag: "Yeah, the guy with enough starch in 'iz underwear ta stop bullets." * Nina whispers, "It's a good description." Nina: "Hey... have you heard anything about the um... Vile Tribe around here?" * Zigfried restrains a chuckle. "I think you're right." Nazdrag: "Vile Tribe eh?" Nazdrag: "Well, dere's a rumor dat they 'ang out near Raculi. But youze didn't 'eer dat from me." * Nazdrag takes another swig --A peeved looking raccoon sprite in dark armor enters the tavern.-- Nina: "Raculi huh?" Nazdrag: "Yep." * Nina wonders if the Viles last course would take them in that direction Bartender: "What is this?" * Zigfried just wonders why they were traveling so far. * Nazdrag looks up at the newcomer --The little raccoon sprite toddles over to the bar and pulls himself onto one of those spinning stools.-- * Zigfried now wonders what everyone is looking at. Raccoon Sprite: "Gimme water!" Bartender: "Err, okay..." * Bartender serves water to the raccoon sprite. Nazdrag: "If yer dirty, head for the inn, not the bar." --The raccoon sprite turns and looks at Nazdrag sipping his water.-- * Nazdrag turns his atention back to Zig and Nina Nina: "What's the quickest way to Raculi?" Nazdrag: "Hmm...." Nazdrag: "Well, the eastern pass is da fastest route, but the Viles know dat. Dey'z crawling all over it nowadayz." Nina: "... Zig? What do you think?" * Zigfried shrugs. "There's only two of us. We'll have a better chance of sneaking through." Nina: "If I were still... infected... we could just walk through." Nazdrag: "Good luck laddie. I thinkz yer gonna be needin' it." * Zigfried shakes his head. "You weren't happy like that. Don't wish it back just for a momentary convenience." * Nazdrag empties his tankard and goes back to the bar for another round --Someone who's had a little too much to drink pukes near the raccoon sprite...-- Nina: "so I assume this... eastern pass is.... east of here?" Nazdrag: "'Ey! No barfin' on da patrons!" --The raccoon sprite jumps up and draws his little wooden sword painted black.-- * Nazdrag looks back to Nina. "Da eastern mountian pass, yeah, datz east a 'ere." --The raccoon sprite growls angrily and waves his sword at the offender.-- Bartender: "Aww, isn't that cute... The little critter has a sword..." Zigfried: "Well, we'd better get going then. Thanks." Drunk: "Hic... Wha da ya wann?" Nina: "Sure you're up for this Zig?" --The raccoon sprite turns to the Bartender and begins fuming.-- Bartender: "Aww, this is too cute!" Raccoon sprite: "I no cute!!! I mean!!! Mean... mean.... MEAN!!!!" * Zigfried nods. Raccoon sprite: "AND I ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!" Bartender: "What a cute tantrum!" * Nazdrag looks back at the barfer: "Yood best aplogize gangly" --The raccoon sprite's fist begins to charge with electric energy.-- Zigfried: "You shouldn't face this alone, and I want you to be at peace." Bartender: "Err... What the..." * Nazdrag looks at the Sprite. "'Ey! Simmer down!" Drunk: "Hic... Can I plug you into my car? The battery died..." * Zigfried takes Nina's hand and leads her out of the bar before the raccoon starts a barfight. --The sprite turns to Nazdrag.-- Raccoon Sprite: "All you gonna get it now!" Bartender: "Incoming!" * Nina follows willingly * Nazdrag rolls up his sleeve slightly * Bartender puts on an army helmet and takes cover. --The raccoon sprite sheathes his sword, puts his hands together and lets loose several bolts of energy at the bartender.-- Raccoon Sprite: "CHIBI DRAGON CANNON!!!!!" Nina: "... Did you just hear what I heard?" * Zigfried shakes his head. "I didn't." Nina: "Good... I'm chosing to pretend I didn't hear it." * Zigfried nods. --The tavern is thoroughly trashed by the sprite. :P-- Bartender: "Good thing I have sprite insurance..." * Nazdrag hurls the sprite out of the remains of the bar with rather impressive force * Zigfried and Nina leave town, heading east. Nazdrag: "GIT!" * Nina shakes her head and heads for the exit to town --The mountain pass can easily be seen within walking distance of town.-- * Nina picks up the pace and hurries for the mountain pass --As the duo approaches the mountains, they find a path leading up to a rope bridge...-- Nina: "You okay on this rocky ground?." Zigfried: "I'll be fine." * Zigfried is keeping his arms spread to keep his balance. * Nina moves forward cautiously * Zigfried scuffles over a few rocks, but manages to keep from falling over. --They duo reaches the rather long rope bridge, and notices several bushes on the other side...-- Zigfried: "You going to cross first?" Nina: "alright, I'll take the lead." Zigfried: "Warn me if you hit any places I should watch out for." Nina: "Will do." * Nina starts across the bridge * Zigfried heads on to the bridge a short distance behind Nina. --The bridge sways slightly in the mountain winds, but not dangerously so.-- * Zigfried consoles himself in the fact that if he falls he'll at least be able to scream out a spell and try flying away. * Nina walks across carefully * Zigfried hopes it's not much further. --The duo finally crosses the bridge and is near the bushes... Voices can be heard from inside the bushes...-- Vile Peon 1: "Huhuhuh, look at these dumbasses..." Vile Peon 2: "Yeah, but that chic is hot! We should like, try to score with her!" Vile Peon 1: *smack* "Assmuch! What makes you think you can score with her? I'll score with her, bunghole!" --One of the bushes starts thrashing violently...-- * Zigfried listens quietly. * Nina doesn't know whether to be worried... or amused * Zigfried jumps back from it. Vile Peon 2: "I'm gonna cave your nads in asswipe!" Vile Peon 1: "Don't make me smack you again!" --Their cover exposed, two lowly Viles emerge from the bushes, fighting with each other...-- Vile Peon 2: "Ahh! Get your hand off my butt you wussy!" --The Viles continue fighting, not noticing the duo nearby.-- * Zigfried thinks, "Uh...." * Nina mutters aside to Zig "think this is average Vile intelligence?" Zigfried: "For your sake I hope not." * Nina shrugs and walks past them --The Viles stop fighting and turn towards the group.-- Vile Peon 1: "Hey! Come back here! Yeah, you with the big thingies!" Vile Peon 2: "Shut up dillweed! She's mine!" *smack* --The Viles get back to fighting over Nina for some reason...-- * Zigfried follows after Nina. * Nina shakes her head and continues onward. * Zigfried would prefer not to think about what they're probably considering. --They soon come across another path leading to a rope bridge...-- Nina: "Another bridge ahead." * Zigfried nods. "I'll be careful. After you." --Nina reaches the bridge first...-- * Nina continues onward * Zigfried wonders how far the ground below is. Not that he could see it anyway. --They are roughly 1,000 feet above the ground.-- * Nina checks the bridges sturdyness factor --It seems quite sturdy.-- * Nina starts across this bridge * Zigfried trails a a yard or two behind Nina as he crosses. Zigfried: "In a way I hope we don't run into any smarter Viles while we try to find your father." --There is an abandoned camp site on the other side of the bridge.-- * Zigfried's foot kicks aside a log from the campsite. "What's this?" Nina: "Looks like someone camped here." Zigfried: "Can you tell how long ago?" --The logs seem to be fairly recent, but the fire is stone cold.-- * Nina checks the fire, "The fire wasn't lit recently." Zigfried: "Hopefully that means they're not around here anymore." Zigfried: "I don't suppose there's anything else here besides logs and ashes?" * Nina checks around --There appears to be something glowing beneath the remnants of the tent...-- * Nina pulls the tent aside to see --There is a large, bluish gem there...-- * Nina picks up the gem, "People don't just leave things like this behind..." -Nina acquires Sapphire Light * Zigfried looks. "Like what?" Nina: "It's a Sapphire Light." Zigfried: "True. That's rather expensive to just lose like that." Nina: "Maybe something chased them off in a hurry?" * Zigfried makes a face. "If so, I don't really want to run into it." --Something whitish in color sticks out from beneath a nearby bush...-- * Nina glances around, moves over to examine the "whitish thing." --It appears to be a leg bone...-- Nina: "This isn't a good sign.... a bone." Zigfried: "Great... I don't suppose that's fresh, is it?" * Nina bends down to see how old it is --It seems to be fairly fresh, considering all the flesh on it has rotted away...-- * Nina shakes her head, "It's fresh... I think we should hurry onward." Zigfried: "Good idea." * Zigfried starts walking again. * Nina continues onward at an increased pace --Finally, they reach a path that leads back down to sea level.-- Nina: "Looks like we're almost through the mountains." * Zigfried keeps up with Nina, doing his best not to go sprawling down the mountainside. Zigfried: "I think I can feel it in my ears." * Nina um... keeps talking... yea --Raculi can be seen just over the horizon as they reach sea level.-- Nina: "I can see a town... it should be Raculi." Zigfried: "We might want to think about finding a place to crash when night comes. We've gone a long way." Zigfried: "That would do." Nina: "Then let's hurry." * Nina.... hurries --The sun starts to set as they approach the town... :P-- * Zigfried follows Nina. * Nina enters town... yea... that's it. --Just as the sun is about to dip below the horizon, the duo reaches Raculi...-- * Zigfried is still right behind Nina. --An unusual single-horned beast man can be seen outside his house, practicing swordsmanship...-- --Other townspeople are minding their daily business...-- * Nina looks around, then walks over to the man, "Excuse me..." Zigfried: "This place seems rather calm for having Viles nearby." Beast Man: "May I help you?" Nina: "Have you heard about the Vile Tribe around here? And where can we spend the night?" * Zigfried likes how Nina is so direct. Beast Man: "Ahh... yes... The Vile Tribe has an encampment near the ruins of the Serak Palce... Fortunately, myself and the rest of Raculi's Guard have warded them off. As for a place to stay, there is an inn at the north end of town." Nina: "Warded them off? What have they been doing?" Beast Man: "They've been raiding villages all over the world... Apparently they feel that the destabilization caused by the Neo Pharosians is the perfect opportunity for them to try to usurp power." * Nina sighs a little, "Thank you." Beast Man: "You're welcome, ma'am." --A human woman leaves the house and approaches the beast man.-- * Nina looks at Zig, "Want to spend the night here and check out the palace tommorow?" Woman: "Honey, dinner's ready, and your son just got back from school..." * Zigfried nods. "That's what I was thinking." Beast Man: "Pardon me... If you have any other questions, feel free to stop by..." * Zigfried nods to the beastman. "Thanks for you help." Woman: "By the way... Did you read the letter from that 'Teal' person concerning that little girl..." Beast Man: "Don't mention it..." Zigfried: "Teal...?" Beast Man: "Yes I did... We'll talk about it over dinner..." --The woman and the beast man enter their house...-- Nina: ".... Hey!" * Zigfried looks back to Nina. Beast Man: "Excuse me?" --The beast man turns just before closing the door.-- Nina: "You know Teal?" Beast Man: "I met her once... Very respectible young lady... She sent us a letter concerning raising a young girl she had been caring for." * Nina looks at Zig, "Alys?" Zigfried: "Could be." * Zigfried turns to the beastman. "What did this young girl look like?" Beast Man: "I think Teal mentioned that she had red hair, green eyes, and came from a long line of swordsmen. She figured that our family, which also has a tradition of swordsmanship, would be a good choice to raise her." Zigfried: "Nina, it's got to be her." Beast Man: "You know this child?" Nina: "I've heard of her." Zigfried: "Yes, we were helping Teal protect her... for a while." Beast Man: "For a while?" * Zigfried nods grimly. "Yes, the child was captured by Pharos. Our companions are currently trying to rescue her." Beast Man: "By the Goddess herself! This is terrible!" Beast Man: "This child must be very special if Pharos was interested in her... Very special indeed..." Zigfried: "I know. But there's not must that can be done right now." Beast Man: "Please... I would be honored if you joined our family for dinner. We can discuss this over our meal." Beast Man: "Perhaps together we could come to a solution..." Nina: "Alright... thank you." Zigfried: "Perhaps. My friend and I are on our own quest though. We might not be coming in contact with the other searchers for a while." Beast Man: "I hope you like chowder. That's what we're having tonight..." * Zigfried looks to Nina. "Well, since you want to." Zigfried: "Chowder is fine." * Zigfried nods graciously. Nina: "We have to stay the night here anyway, Zig." Beast Man: "Come on in then. Also, may I ask your names?" Zigfried: "I know, but I don't like to impose." Nina: "I'm Nina." Zigfried: "I'm Zigfried." --The beast man bows graciously.-- Beast Man: "Pleased to make your acquaintance. My name is Leon." * Leon motions the group to enter his home * Nina nods and heads inside * Zigfried enters after Nina. Leon: "Well, you might as well come in while the chowder's hot..." Nina: "It's kind of you." Leon: "It is the least I could do, and my family has much to ask of you concerning this infant." Nina: "Zig knows more than I do... I came into this later." * Leon introduces the group to his wife and young son. "This is my lovely wife, Tina, and my son, Richard. Tina and Richard, this is Nina and Zigfried." Zigfried: "It isn't a problem, Leon. We shouldn't be picky about what you offer us." * Zigfried greets each of them in turn. Tina: "Nice to meet both of you... Good thing I made some extra chowder tonight..." * Nina bows a little Richard: "Yeah... Nice to meet you guys!" Leon: "Please, take a seat..." * Tina places two more settings at the table and fills them bowls with chowder. * Zigfried does. * Nina sits Leon: "Richard, would you please say grace?" * Richard bows his head, followed by his parents, "Goddess Althena, please bless this meal you graciously gave to us..." Leon: "So... I hope the chowder is to your satisfaction." * Zigfried nods and takes a sip of the chowder from his spoon. * Nina tastes it and nods "yes, its good" Tina: "Thank you..." Richard: "Pass the salt..." * Tina passes her son the salt, "Don't forget to say 'please' next time..." Richard: "Sorry Mom..." Leon: "Anyway... What is so special about this child? Her name was 'Alys,' right?" Zigfried: "Yes, that's correct." Nina: "From what I understand, she's supposed to be the next Dragonmaster." Leon: "Next Dragonmaster!?" * Zigfried nods. "Something like that." Nina: "Yea..." Leon: "That explains why Teal wanted us to raise her... Why would Pharos kidnap her? Why didn't he kill her outright if he feared her destiny?" Nina: "Besides kidnapping her... he stole all the Dragons' power." * Nina sips chowder Leon: "He did!? This hasn't happened since the days of my ancestor, the original White Knight..." Nina: "We restored the White Dragon's power... and we recovered the red's... but... well..." Leon: "This situation is indeed very grave..." Zigfried: "Well, Pharos probably wouldn't mind his deeds ranking with Zophar's." * Leon sips some chowder... * Zigfried continues eating. Leon: "No, I suppose not... This town has a long memory of what he did, seeing as we are located near what was one of the major fronts of the Unification War..." Zigfried: "Do you think he might attack you because of that?" Leon: "That I do not know. However, the Vile raids have kept Raculi's Guard in prime condition should that occur..." Leon: "I only wish they could stop... This is not a very safe place to raise a family." Nina: "Who... is leading them? Ghaleon and Xenobia are long gone..." * Nina knows her Vile related history Leon: "It is a Tribesman named Torikan. He is one of the winged, bird-like variety of Viles..." Nina: "The bird-like..." Leon: "Something wrong?" * Nina extends one of her wings from under her cloak * Leon's family gasps... Leon: "Amazing... Your wings are almost identical to Torikan's..." * Zigfried watches Nina carefully, hoping she's not too disturbed. Nina: "His... wings are like mine?" Leon: "Yes... Black as night... I have only seen him once. We fought to a draw when he personally lead a raid on Raculi." Nina: "Do you know if he can... take human form?" * Zigfried stops eating a moment and clasps his hands together, watching Nina. Leon: "He took several forms, including human, in our battle... It made it very difficult to find a weakness in his defenses." * Nina swallows and leans back quietly Leon: "Are you all right, ma'am?" * Nina says quietly, "Fine." Leon: "Are you sure? You seem a bit pale..." Tina: "Should I get you some water or something?" * Nina shakes her head Zigfried: "We've come a long way to find the Viles. We're both very tired." Tina: "Why don't you spend the night here? We have a couple day-beds in our guest room." Leon: "Yes... You're certainly welcome to. It will not be an intrusion at all." Zigfried: "Thank you very much." Leon: "No need for thanks. We are all in this together." * Nina nods, still speaking quietly, "Yes, thank you." Tina: "Is everyone here finished eating?" * Leon and Richard nod * Zigfried takes a last couple spoonfuls and then nods. * Nina ate half her food... but has lost her appetite Tina: "Richard, please clear the table..." * Zigfried reaches under the table to squeeze Nina's hand. Richard: "Aww, but Mom..." Tina: "No buts..." * Nina smiles slightly at Zig, then returns to having an unreadable expression * Richard begrudgingly does what his mother says Leon: "Tina, please show them to the guest room. I want to get another hour or so of practice in tonight." Tina: "Yes, dear. Follow me please, if you don't mind..." * Zigfried releases Nina as he stands up and follows Tina. * Nina stands, sniffles a little.... from the soaking they took * Tina leads the duo up some stairs and to the end of a hall * Nina follows Tina: "Here you go. You can go to sleep now, if you'd like, or you can relax in the den or something... It's up to you. Anyway, pardon me, I have dishes to do..." * Tina walks off * Zigfried hugs Nina. "How are you feeling?" * Nina pulls off her cloak and sits on one of the beds Nina: "I'm not sure actually." * Zigfried drops on to the bed across from her. Zigfried: "I'm not surprised. It must be a shock... finding out like that." Nina: "I've always tried to tell myself, 'The Vile tribe was just misunderstood... Maybe my father did care about my mother.'" Nina: "Even when they killed her..." Zigfried: "You still don't know, Nina. Maybe he did care." * Zigfried kicks off his shoes and looks down at the floor. Nina: "I don't know what were going to do... I'm afraid we're going to end up fighting them." Nina: "Maybe this whole 'quest' is a mistake." Zigfried: "I won't say it won't happen, but we don't know until we go see them. Your father might want to see you." Zigfried: "Nina, if you didn't come here, you'd be worrying at yourself for not doing so." * Nina says quietly, "I met him once Zig." Zigfried: "You haven't asked for much, and you shouldn't shy away from the one time you really have to." * Zigfried looks up. "You have?" Nina: "My mother... and I... went to find him..." Nina: "We found the Vile Tribe alright... and they attacked us." Nina: "My mother died protecting me." * Zigfried tucks his knees up to his chest and wraps his arms around his legs as he listens. Zigfried: "Nina..." Nina: "Let me finish." * Zigfried nods. * Nina runs a hand through her messy hair. Nina: "They didn't kill me... Apparently they recognized my wings." Nina: "They brought me before a bird man... I barely remember any details... I was young... and beat up... and crying." Nina: "He... had to have known who... what I was." Nina: "He told them to drop me in the desert to die." Nina: "And I should have died... I suppose only my Vile blood let me live through it." * Nina gets quiet * Zigfried shakes his head sadly. * Zigfried comes over to her bed and sits down beside her. He puts an arm around her, pulling her close. He says nothing though, believing his silence could say more than words. * Nina leans against him, apparently trying to hold back tears * Zigfried takes her face gently with his other hand and turned her towards him. He kisses her softly on the lips. * Nina looks surprised, starts to pull back... but doesn't * Nina turns her head away slighty after an appropriate amount of time, "Why do you even care about me?" * Zigfried cocks his head to one side. "Why shouldn't I? You're a caring person, and you deserved to be loved just as much as anyone else." Nina: "No one has before." Zigfried: "That doesn't mean the trend should continue." Zigfried: "You think too little of yourself sometimes." Nina: "... Thank you." * Zigfried lets out a sigh. "So what do you plan to say to your father tomorrow, assuming he's the same birdman you met before." Nina: "I have no idea." * Zigfried nods. "Well, some things manage to resolve themselves. This might be one of them. I'll guess we'll just wait and see." Nina: "... It all depends on how he feels..." * Zigfried squeezes Nina a little. "All right. I'll let you get some sleep then. You'll probably need it." * Zigfried gets up and heads back over to his side of the room. * Nina watches him, "Promise me something?" * Zigfried turned back to look at her. "What?" Nina: "... Let's always be together." * Zigfried smiles slowly. "Always. I promise." Nina: "Sleep well Zig..." Zigfried: "You too, Nina." * Nina lays down on her side (you try sleeping on your back with wings) facing away from him so he won't see that she's not sleeping. * Zigfried likewise goes to bed, although he doesn't fall asleep right away. ===SESSION END===
