Wii Remote Model

For CSCI1250 Computer Animation, one of our projects was to model something of interest to us in Maya. I chose to make a Nintendo Wii controller. Here are some renders of the finished product:

This model was done entirely in polys. Initially the mesh was at a lower resolution, but was smoothed towards the end of the design. Almost all detail is actual geometry that has been modeled. Bump maps were used in addition to geometry, for the small dots above the player lights, for the inset text, and for the speaker dots.

Careful attention was paid to every aspect of this model. There is even detail in hard to see places, such as the battery door clip, and the inside of the accessory port. To achieve this amount of detail, reference photos that I took myself were heavily used within Maya. These same reference photos served as a reference for the texture mapping of the controller.
