LUNAR: Armageddon

Welcome to the LUNAR: Armageddon web site. This page will be the one-stop shop for information on this soon-to-begin IRC RPG campaign taking place on the LunarNet IRC Network (day and time TBD).

Please note that I plan on using this website to play with new techniques in web design, seeing as how my knowledge on the subject is over ten years old. If you have any problems, please let me know (if you care about this game at all, you’ll know how to reach me).

Background Information, or…
Let's roleplay like it’s 1999!

LUNAR: Armageddon is my return to GMing an IRC RPG. In the past, I have participated and ran other several other IRC RPGs, including playing in LUNAR: Middleground and GMing LUNAR: A Story Forgotten, LUNAR: A Story Forgotten 2, and Project Apocalypse. However, there hasn’t been an “old-school” IRC RPG in the style of these campaigns to my knowledge since L:ASF2 completed. I intend to bring back the feel of these old campaigns while hopefully doing my best job as GM yet…

Armageddon will also be a clean break from the past for me. While it will be a LUNAR RPG, since I feel like I’ve had the most success with that universe/setting, it will not tie in to the ASF universe (for those of you familiar with it) at all: no Kane, no Teal, no Grim Rapper. Its time line follows the “traditional” LUNAR time line, where the Blue Star was destroyed in our future.

Okay, I lied, kinda. Kane, Teal, and the Grim Rapper may have cameo appearances as NPCs. However, none of them will be playing roles anywhere related to those in the past. So Kane may appear, but he won’t be playing a Demonmaster. Similarly, Teal won’t be playing a Blue Dragon. So basically, a lot of my old characters, if they appear at all, will effectively be “re-imagined.” Hey, if Tezuka could do it with his Star System, why can’t I, right?

Lead-in Story

For the past 84 years or so, the world has more or less constantly been at war. In the beginning, these wars consisted of only humans vs. humans. This changed 71 years ago when various mutated creatures showed up – some humanoid, some not. As a result, the military, already spread very thin with the various wars, was unable to also fully protect the people from these monsters. This allowed adventurers, bounty-hunters, etc., to gain a career as monster killers. Oh, and the Turiacus Knights also had a hand to play in this mess.

Armageddon starts on a military base located in Northern Virginia, USA. From this point, you’ll get information and orders on what you need to do to start out. After the initial starting point, you should have more freedom to explore Earth of the 31st century, and hopefully get to the root of why these wars broke out and where the mutant monsters came from…
