もういちど (One More Time)

January 23rd, 2006 by adamwhite

Back on campus, as of late Saturday night. Took me a while to actually make contact with Techhouse people, I spent most of Sunday cleaning and shopping. Somehow, leaving my room clean when I left still meant I had a mess to deal with when I returned… now everything is (mostly) put away, and I’m moving on to thinking about classes.

Shopping period is looking like it’ll be fun this year. Three courses are pretty set, two of which I’m excited about and one of which I’m resigned to… Japanese History with Kerry Smith looks like it’ll be wonderful, and the new Anime & Manga course in the MCM department should at least be interesting…. for god’s sake, it’s an ANIME COURSE! Japanese 40 is going to be hard, but if I work hard I should hopefully improve more than I did last semester. Not that that’s hard, necessarily. Last semester turned out OK, but it was still… unfortunate.

The other courses I’ll be shopping are varied and sundry, but look to be interesting. I am signed up for a Visual Art course on “digital imaging” (I expect this to mean digital photomanipulation, but either way I get to learn photoshop), and also one on Russian Science Fiction that has a cool reading list. I’ll either settle on one of those, or see how shopping Econ 11 and an anthro-linguistics course go… Anthro-Linguistics is the part of linguistics I like, and Econ’s something ir eally ought to understand, but I really hope the VA course turns out well.

Got a call from Joey in Rome today. Sounds like he’s having a good time, although he implied classes weren’t great… too bad, but at least it sounded like the food was divine.

Personal projects for the coming semester:
-Model and Rig an anime-style character
-Learn to cell-shade it
-Play around with Photoshop and Alias Sketchpad; make cool shit
-Read more
-Survive

ttfn, I go to read the complete Calvin and Hobbes! (christmas was GOOD this year)
